Choice Growers has been snapped up by Greenway Cannabis.

Greenway Cannabis has acquired all of Choice Growers’ consumer brands, as well as other assets.

The brands include Grapefruit God Bud (also known as Grape God), The Jeffrey, Watermelon Pebbles, Pink Lemonade, Duke Nukem, Tangerine Dream and Blackberry Cheesecake.

“The acquisition will enable Greenway to expand further into the CPG (consumer packaged goods) sector of the Canadian cannabis market and introduce its products to a broader audience across the country,” Greenway said in a news release.

“Acquiring the brands from Choice Growers will help Greenway grow the number of SKUs (stock-keeping units — an inventory measure) we have in Ontario and bring Greenway products into new provinces. The Choice Growers team have built strong brands that have demonstrated real consumer appeal,” said Jamie D’Alimonte, CEO of Greenway.

The purchase eliminates debts owed by Alberta-based Choice Growers to Greenway.

Greenway is headquartered in Kingsville, Ont.

Last month, Greenway released financial data that showed revenues were up for the last fiscal quarter and last six months.

Earnings were still negative however, although improved from last year.

The company sold 1,484 kilograms or kilogram equivalents, compared to 1,226 in the same quarter of the previous year, a 21% increase.

“As a team, we are elated to see that last year’s revenues increase by over 50% year over year, and by over 70% so far this fiscal year. We have sold more product at a higher average price this year than last,” said D’Alimonte.
