A US Ultimate frisbee team is the first professional team in history to sport a cannabis logo.

US cannabis brand Star Buds has become the first cannabis company to place its logo on a professional sports team’s uniform.

They are now the official sponsor of the Colorado Summit, the state’s first professional ultimate disc team.

“We’re incredibly proud to be the first cannabis company to sponsor Colorado’s first professional ultimate disc team and hope this will drive a movement toward the acceptance of cannabis in professional sports,” said Justin Dye, CEO and Chairman of Schwazze, Star Buds’ parent company.

It’s something we won’t see on this side of the border any time soon, as the Cannabis Act strictly forbids any sports sponsorships.

Star Buds also sponsors the Colorado Summit Beer Garden located in the University of Denver’s Peter Barton Stadium.

The Summit’s season opens Saturday in Seattle.

Fox Sports will be broadcasting two of the team’s home games live nationally on FS2 this season.

Created in 1969, Ultimate is currently the fastest-growing sport in the world and is being considered for admission to the 2028 Olympics.
