The worldwide cannabis cultivation market will expand from US$4.15 billion in 2024 to US$12.27 billion by 2032, a new report predicts.

“The industry’s evolution is marked by significant technological and regulatory transformations,” says Dublin-based Research and Markets in a news release touting the report Cannabis Cultivation Market – Global Forecast 2025-2032.

“Cultivation practices are shifting in ways that transcend incremental improvement and amount to structural transformation,” the researchers say.

“In the past decade, cannabis cultivation has witnessed a period of technological renaissance, with developments in automated climate control systems and precision nutrient delivery systems dramatically enhancing indoor cultivation. Digital monitoring platforms now offer real-time insights into plant health, resource utilization, and energy consumption, enabling data-driven decision-making for increased efficiency,” the news release said.

Cultivators must also adapt to meet more discerning consumer demands.

“Consumer expectations have likewise evolved from simple potency claims to nuanced demands for provenance, terpene profiles, and standardized dosing, which drives greater emphasis on lab analytics and post-harvest handling,” Research and Markets said.

The report dives into various growing techniques, different strains of cannabis, worldwide regional differences and growing technologies. The effects of American tariffs on growing supplies are also considered.

Several companies with Canadian operations are examined in the report, including Canopy Growth, Aurora, Tilray, Cronos, Organigram and Hexo.
