Cannabis sales in Quebec rose by $79.4 million in the latest fiscal year, Quebec’s government supplier announced.

“For its fiscal year ended March 29, 2025, the Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) posted total sales of $741.5 million, compared with $662.1 million for the preceding fiscal year,” a news release said.

The SQDC contributed $118 million in profits to provincial coffers to go along with $177.9 million in cannabis taxes going to Québec and $71.6 million to the federal government.

“The $118.0 million dividend and the Quebec portion of the excise tax are … reinvested primarily in cannabis-related prevention efforts and research and in the fight against the harmful effects of psychoactive substances,” the release said.

“In fiscal 2024-2025, the SQDC’s products on offer included 381 Québec grown products — or 61% of of the total. Among the company’s 52 suppliers, 37 were based in Québec.

“By law, all cannabis sold at the SQDC is grown in Canada.”

Overall dollar sales grew 12% over the previous year “due to the opening of seven new stores and the busy summer and holiday seasons.

“Volume sales totalled 149,223 kilograms of cannabis, a 21.8% increase from fiscal 2023-2024.

“The SQDC recorded 18.8 million transactions in its 104 stores and on its website while the average sales price for all cannabis products combined was $5.71/g.”

The society released its annual report in French with an English-language version to follow.
