A joint-rolling contest was one of the events featured in the SolidariWeed cannabis festival, held last month in Victoria.
The UFCW 1518 union local gathered its member budtenders and others to an event that featured workshops, speakers and other cannabis-related activities and information.
Speakers included activists Joe Giesz-Ramsay (formerly Emery) and Dana Larsen.
“The BC Bud Union was founded in 2020 when Victoria cannabis workers united to form the first unionized dispensary in Canada. Since then, the union has secured major wins for budtenders, ranging from workplace policies guaranteeing two workers on-shift for safety purposes, to employer paid cannabis sommelier training,” the union said on a webpage devoted to the event.
