Herbal Dispatch picks up slack during gov’t workers strike

The eight-week government workers strike was good news for online cannabis retailer Herbal Dispatch.

The company achieved gross sales of approximately $4.1 million in October, marking the highest monthly sales in its history and a 273% increase from the average monthly sales of $1.1 million, the company proclaimed in a news release.

“This exceptional performance was driven by robust demand in the recreational cannabis segment, enhanced by the recent strike by the BC General Employees’ Union, which halted wholesale shipments from the province’s primary liquor and cannabis distribution hubs.

“This has driven retailers across British Columbia to rely on independent wholesalers and the direct delivery program, creating significant growth opportunities for Herbal Dispatch.”

On its website, Herbal Dispatch explained further: “During the strike, BC Cannabis Stores were closed across the province and operations at the BCLDB’s central cannabis warehouse were completely halted … As a direct delivery provider, Herbal Dispatch is authorized to sell products directly from BC growers and processors to dispensaries across BC. This capability transformed us into a critical lifeline for hundreds of dispensaries…

“What would normally sell out over months was selling out in hours as we became one of the few remaining sources for legal cannabis products in the province. With the strike now resolved and provincial operations resuming, we expect supply chain challenges to normalize over the coming weeks.”

As a result of the strike boon, the Vancouver-based company is updating its forecasts for the October-December financial quarter.

“The company now anticipates gross sales in the range of $6.4 million to $7.0 million for Q4 2025, representing a potential increase of up to 112% compared to Q3 2025’s $3.3 million,” the company said.
