One step closer for cannabis breathalyzer

A Vancouver company’s cannabis breathalyzer has sailed through another test.

Cannabix Technologies’ Breath Collection Unit has passed electronic emissions testing required by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.

“Completion of emissions testing is a key milestone towards commercialization,” the company said in a news release.

The handheld unit along with Cannabix’s breath cartridges forms the core hardware of the Marijuana Breath Test.

“Electronic emissions testing is required by the FCC for certain electronic devices —primarily those that emit radio frequency energy — before they can be marketed or sold in the United States,” the company explained.

The device has passed similar Canadian tests. Testing was performed at QAI Laboratories in Burnaby, B.C.

Cannabix has launched three new videos demonstrating the product. The videos can be found on the Cannabix website.

Cannabix is developing the device with U.S.-based Omega Laboratories.

Cannabix also announced it sold more of its alcohol breathalyzers to a European maritime shipping company that had bought the device before. An Australian distributor has also made an order for alcohol breathalyzers.
