Sales up $70M in Quebec

Cannabis sales at Quebec’s government-run stores rose by almost $70 million in the latest fiscal year compared to the year before.

The Société québécoise du cannabis reported total sales of $809.5 million for the fiscal year ending March 28, compared with $741.5 million in the preceding year.

This resulted in a net income $132.4 million compared to $118.1 million in fiscal 2024-25, the SQDC reported.

Quebec cannabis stores began selling vaping products in November.

“Overall dollar sales were up 9.2% from fiscal 2024-2025 while volume sales totalled 165,169 kg of cannabis, compared with 149,223 kg in the preceding fiscal year, a 10.7% increase,” the agency said in a statement. “This growth is mainly attributable to the opening of six new stores and the introduction of responsible vaping product sales.”

The SQDC processed 20.5 million transactions through its 110 stores and website, compared with 18.8 million transactions in fiscal 2024-25.

“The average sales price for all cannabis products combined was $5.63/g, taxes included, compared with $5.71/g last year.”

The SQDC generated $278.8 million in consumer and excise taxes with $198.9 million going to Quebec and $79.9 million to the federal government.

“All told, the SQDC is contributing a total of $331.3 million to the Quebec treasury,” the  statement said.

A total of $250.6 million will be “earmarked primarily for cannabis-related prevention efforts and research, and in countering the harmful effects of psychoactive substances.”
