Smoothies taste better with hemp

Put some hemp in your smoothie.

Manitoba Harvest, a Tilray subsidiary, has launched three “smoothie boosters” under its Hemp+ label.

The Hemp+ Mood, Energy and Immunity brands are available at some Whole Foods Markets.

The powders feature organic ground hemp with other natural ingredients— ashwagandha and lemon balm in the Mood package; caffeine and guarana powder in the Energy; and elderberry, acerola cherry and beet powder in the Immunity.

“Hemp is a perfect smoothie companion with other superfoods,” said Rebecca Morgan, senior director of marketing for Manitoba Harvest and Tilray Wellness, in a news release, “and we’re excited to debut these new herbal blends for enhanced energy, mood and immunity — some of the biggest wellness priorities.”

HYTN gets first cartridge export order

Kelowna-based HYTN Innovations is exporting vape cartridges for the first time.

A total of 1,000 one-gram live resin vape cartridges are to be shipped to the United Kingdom by Sept. 6.

The cartridges were developed in collaboration with Edmonton-based cannabis and liquor giant SNDL.

The companies formed a partnership in January to develop Good Manufacturing Practices-compliant cartridges with SNDL providing the equipment and capital, and HYTN the facility.

“We’re excited to see demand for our GMP-compliant vape cartridges,” said HYTN’s chief operating officer Jason Broome in a news release. “International drug development requires specialized and validated facilities, equipment, and systems. HYTN’s capabilities meet these stringent requirements.”
