The BC producer’s 1964 Supply Co. brand will enter the U.K.’s medical cannabis market through a distribution deal with 4C Labs.
“The initial product offering will include a select range of formats, including organically grown flower, vapes and extracts,” Rubicon said in a news release. “The collaboration is intended to provide patients and healthcare providers with access to consistent, premium‑quality medical cannabis, starting with a curated portfolio and expanding over the coming months to meet growing demand.”
Rubicon recently opened a second growing facility in Hope, BC, which is making expanded exports possible.
“The additional capacity now being produced at our Cascadia facility will support this growth by allowing us to scale production efficiently while maintaining the top quality our brands are known for,” said CEO Margaret Brodie.
4C is a Canadian company that imports and distributes medical cannabis products in the United Kingdom. Last year, 4C began distributing products for Ontario’s Greenway Greenhouse Cannabis.
Rubicon is promoting its international presence by participating in international cannabis business conferences in Berlin and London this month. CEO Brodie and COO Melanie Ramsey will make presentations.
Calgary-based High Tide, parent company of Canna Cabana, will send speakers to some of those same conferences, as well as events in New York and Las Vegas.
In other international developments, Organigram has completed its purchase of Germany’s Sanity Group in a deal worth more than 100 million euros.
“Sanity has developed a diversified and sophisticated commercial footprint across key segments of the cannabis value chain, including medical cannabis, regulated recreational pilot programs, and wellbeing products,” Organigram states.
Tilray announced has acquired the Lyphe Group, “a leading U.K.-based medical cannabis clinic and digital pharmacy platform.”
Lyphe has dispensed more than 150,000 “units” to over 16,000 patients to date, Tilray said in a news release.
