Calgary-based Simply Solventless Concentrates is moving into new territory by buying a large cannabis cultivation facility in Winnipeg.

SSC, as it refers to itself, is buying Delta 9 Cannabis’s Bio-Tech Inc. for some $3 million. Delta 9 and Bio-Tech were under creditor protection. The sale has been court-approved.

Bio-Tech operates a 95,000-square-foot facility in Winnipeg with an annual capacity of approximately 9,000 kilograms of dried cannabis flower and trim.

“The facility is GACP (Good Agricultural Collection Practice) certified, allowing for the export of dried flower to international markets,” a news release says.

“SSC does not currently cultivate or sell dried flower. The acquisition will allow SSC to participate in the dried flower product category, which is the largest cannabis product category in Canada with a market share of approximately 40%.”

Bio-Tech provides cannabis to most provinces.

“Bio-Tech is expected to generate approximately $12 million of annualized gross revenue, which would represent an increase of approximately 25% from current SSC levels,” the release says.

“As Bio-Tech is being acquired through CCAA (Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act ) proceedings, SSC will assume no liabilities upon closing of the acquisition.”

SSC has made some personnel moves. Jeff Holmgren is the new chief financial officer, and Murray Brown was promoted to chief operating officer.
