Explore everyday cannabis in Issue 3

Published on May 21, 2021 by oz. staff

We’re excited for you to read the May/June edition of the oz. magazine — our biggest issue yet!

Thank you to The Valens Company for taking us on a tour of their K1 and K2 facilities in Kelowna, where about 200 different products are made under all kinds of brands. Jaesin Hammer took some amazing pictures of the facilities for us, including the cover shot. One of the top performing cannabis companies overall, Valens is one to watch.

We’re proud to feature Spiritleaf Vernon owner Sarah Ballantyne in our profile; her store was the first legal cannabis retailer to open in the Okanagan in 2019. We’ll feature our full interview with her in the second season of our podcast.

Also inside:

  • David Wylie takes the First Hit with a tale of old, when 17th Century sailors got way too high.
  • Shylo Thompson brings you inside Ryan and Chelsea Hannah’s 4/20 wedding, including some beautiful pictures by Chloe Photo. Cannabis Wedding Expo CEO Vanessa Oliver talks about some of the latest weed wedding trends.
  • Jenny Neufeld walks you through five yoga poses that are perfect for elevating your high, complete with pictures of each pose.
  • Corinne Doan has the Last Hit, arguing that punitive laws around cannabis marketing are a full-blown communications crisis for the industry.

We are grateful for the support of our advertisers: The Valens Company, Okanagan College, Spiritleaf, LYF Edibles, Smoker Farms, Lake Country Cannabis, and Greenery Cannabis Boutique.

Print copies are available for free at select cannabis retailers throughout the Okanagan Valley. Follow us on Instagram @okanaganz for updates on where you can find them.

For nearly three years we’ve covered the legal cannabis industry through our website, email newsletter, podcast, and of course, the magazine.

As soon as we finish one magazine, we start on the next. If you’re interested in advertising with us or have a story to pitch, email [email protected].
