Alberta is the most high province

Known for oil, beef and red licence plates, Alberta is now king of cannabis. It leads Canada in the number of cannabis stores with a very respectable 130.
Contrast with BC, which has just over 30.
Albertans also report burning through more weed than any other province, at 21% compared to the 17.5% national average.

As for Alberta’s cannabis production footprint, one of the country’s biggest LPs, Aurora, is based in the province. It’s also home to Acreage Pharms and Alberta Craft Cannabis.
It also has a solid national retail chain, with a Hip connection: Spiritleaf.
The cannabis retailer, which has locations approved in Vernon and Kelowna, is based in Calgary.

About 10 BC provincial government stores have licences in cities throughout the province — including Penticton — but only the Kamloops location is currently open.
