Health Canada change means sales licence now included

Life is about to get a little bit less complicated for companies that grow cannabis.

Health Canada announced this week it will start granting a sales licence to all micro-cultivators and standard producers along with their cultivation licence. That means they won’t have to submit a sales licence amendment application.

Licensed cannabis growers will now be able to sell their product directly to authorized provincial and territorial retail distributors.

The change comes into effect on April 19.

“This change will reduce regulatory burden on licence holders and give new licence holders he ability to bring products to market more quickly,” says Health Canada.

Existing licences will be issued an amended licence within 90 days.

“This decision is based on the lower risk associated with producing dried and fresh cannabis products,” says Health Canada.
