Cannabis on Canada Day

It took eight months, but the Okanagan’s first licensed cannabis retail store will open July 1.

Spiritleaf announced its grand opening is on Canada Day at 9 a.m. at 102-2500 53rd Ave. in Vernon.

The owners, Sarah Ballantyne and her husband Carson, say it’s so far been “an amazing adventure.”

Spiritleaf’s opening in the Okanagan has landed wide media coverage, even earning a story in the National Post.

More stores are expected to follow soon.

Starbuds in Lake Country was the first store in the region to receive municipal approval — getting the nod in mid-December 2018 — but hasn’t yet received its provincial licence.
