Concentrates are gaining traction and attracting attention at Seed and Stone, which has several locations in the Lower Mainland.

Jeremy Selby, who’s in charge of purchasing for Seed and Stone’s cannabis stores, says there’s been a recent push toward concentrates. Expanded selection and competitive pricing has contributed to that trend, he said.

Some of the top products are Kolab Live Rosin Jam as well as Earthwolf Venom OG.

“There are a couple new novelty items that are interesting in the concentrates, which catch people’s eye,” he says.

They include:

  • Hash sticks from Hazel, which are made entirely of hash rolled up to be smoked like a joint
  • Okanagan Moon Rock from CannGroup, which is a bud that’s coated in full-spectrum THC oil and rolled in kief
  • A vape from Northbound that’s up to 28% CBN, with terpenes selected for sedative effects

“It’s a convenient way to use CBN. You can have it on your bedside table, you don’t have to wait for it to kick in,” he says.

Selby also counted the wide variety of drinks (including the Collective Project’s Blood Orange, Yuzu, and Vanilla Sparkling Juice, and Fizz drinks from Tweed) in the novelty category.

As for flower, Selby recommends Cake and Caviar’s Blueberry Yum Yum, Organnicraft’s Platinum Grapes, and Qwest’s Banana OG in the seven-gram format.

$100 ounces sell well, he says.

“There’s always that want for a good ounce,” he says.

Simply Bare’s Blue Dream and 7 Acres Jack Haze pre-rolls have been consistent sellers.

With edibles, customers are turning toward choices that are a good value, such as the Half Time PB Cup from Vacay and the Sourz gummies from Spinach.

Seed and Stone has retail stores in Victoria and Chilliwack, with more coming in Delta and White Rock. The chain has an established relationship with the Songhees Nation.

“We’ve got the widest selection anywhere, we have tons of vapes and over 100 different types of flower just in eighths,” he says. “Our budtenders know a lot and they can guide you to the products you’re looking for.”

They also dedicate a section in every store for BC craft.
