BC Cannabis Summit releases speakers and panels

Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran will give his two cents on weed at the upcoming BC Cannabis Summit.

This week organizers of the BC Cannabis Summit, which is happening in Kelowna April 20-22, released the full agenda.

High-profile speakers announced also include Tourism Kelowna President and CEO Lisanne Ballantyne and former Westbank First Nation Chief Roxanne Lindley.

Hundreds of people will descend on the Hotel Eldorado to “Roll it up and hash it out.”

The Summit is being organized by the BC Craft Farmers Co-op and the Association for Canadian Cannabis Retailers (ACCRES).

A trade show on site will include about 20 booths, including one hosted by the oz.

On the agenda:

  • Federal MPs will be there to participate in a moderated panel, including Liberal MP John Aldag, Conservative MP Rob Morrison, and NDP MP Richard Cannings.
  • BC government officials will be there to discuss policy updates and Indigenous issues.
  • Publisher of the oz., David Wylie, will be moderating two different panels during the event, one on digital communications, and another on economic growth and tourism.
  • A panel on the future of craft includes Pineapple Buds’ Kyra Horvath and Sweet Valley’s Jeff Thorne; it’s moderated by Joint Ventures Cannabis’ Janeen Davis.
  • There will also be panels on diversity and inclusion; women in cannabis; and sales and supply chain issues

There will also be plenty of opportunities to network, including on the Eldorado rooftop patio.
