Dope relationship

Published on April 14, 2019 by David Wylie

We know cannabis can lead to a more fulfilling sex life.

Now, researchers have found it also leads to more of those cute, sweet and loving little moments between couples.

A study in the journal Cannabis finds evidence that pot use among intimate partners has “robust positive effects” on intimacy between couples.

“To the best of our knowledge, no prior study has considered this research question,” say the authors.

“We found evidence that marijuana use is associated with increased experiences of intimacy, love, caring or support with one’s intimate partner in the next two hours.”

About 200 couples who are frequent pot users took part in the 30-day study.

It examined how pot affected their intimacy in the two-hour window after getting high. Researchers found a higher likelihood of an intimate experience for both men and women when both partners partake.

It also found positive effects on intimacy among both men and women, even if cannabis is only used by one partner.

Researchers note the participating couples were “frequent but not problematic” cannabis users. And they added the study was limited in scope, tapping the young, primarily Caucasian, and employed — all recruited through Facebook.

The report by researchers at University at Buffalo and the University of Houston was published in February 2019.

Alcohol use, in contrast, has long been linked with intimate partner violence in many countries.
