5 reasons the Okanagan is perfect for high adventure

British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley is primed to join the growing list of cannabis tourism destinations across the globe — in the good company of The Netherlands, Portugal, Uruguay, Oregon, Colorado.

Here are five good reasons the Okanagan is destined to join the world’s best pot spots.

1. Natural wonder

You think Kalamalka Lake looks deep and mysterious now? Wait until you view it after an afternoon expanding your perspective. The same goes for the Valley’s numerous scenic lookouts, vineyards and mountaintops. You could also float the Enderby River or just chill at Hot Sands Beach in downtown Kelowna and feel that soft sand between your toes. There is so much to do, and You could do it all, in fact, because of the valley’s built-in …

You’re not getting behind the wheel on this trip, that’s a given, and by last count there were more than two dozen tour operators in Kelowna. Choose van, limo, electric-powered Tesla taxi or helicopter to take in all the sights and scents the Okanagan has to offer. There’s so many companies because we already have some incredible, built-in tours thanks to our …

3. Good spirits

Wineries, breweries, distilleries … let’s call this a symbiotic relationship. If you’re here, you should pick a day to taste some wine, beer or spirits produced in the Okanagan. (Heck, we’ve got local whisky and absinthe). There are roughly 40 wineries in Kelowna alone, plus dozens more in Penticton and points south. Craft beer is also making an impact in the Valley. We understand smoking and drinking don’t always go together, but they don’t notgo together, either.

4. Growing industry

From apples, grapes and cherries to asparagus, tomatoes and … herb. Sure, much of the growing happens indoors, but doesn’t it just make sense to visit one of Canada’s best agricultural areas to enjoy your greens? Hot summers, mild winters, rich soils and light winds all make this place capable of growing almost anything, which leads to…

5. The mouth-watering food

You’re going to be hungry because of all the, you know … touring and visiting. There’s no better place to eat than Kelowna. If you love comfort food, fine dining, sweets or savoury, you don’t need to walk more than a few minutes downtown before stumbling into an amazing eatery.
